S3M-06756 Aileen Campbell (South of Scotland) (SNP): That the Parliament welcomes the initiative of Friends of Volunteering Clydesdale to break the world record for generating electricity from bicycles; notes that the event will take place between 5pm on Friday 27 August and 5pm on Saturday 28 August 2010 at the Coalburn One Stop Shop, with participants invited to spend at least one minute pedalling a bicycle to generate electricity; understands that the effort requires at least 1,000 participants to stand a chance of beating the existing record of 12,953 watts and that the event forms part of a Sustainable Saturday family day that will promote a range of eco-friendly and sustainable activities and demonstrations, and encourages any individual, group, club or society with an interest to consider taking part in this event.
